I was reading an article about what is allowed and not allowed under the Fair Housing Act, when buying or selling a home and it sounds like it could be a little tricky. Has anyone found themselves in a situation involving this act? What precautions do you all take to help make sure this law is not violated?
You certainly need to be cognizant when representing yourself in a sale or rental. If you know that you have a bias towards certain classes of people, you might want to use a professional to manage or sell the property for you.
Ozzy- the act refers to not discriminating people for their race, religion, marital status, and I think sexual orientation. You can get in big trouble if you’re caught doing this. And it’s bad for business.
